Stand On A Better World
Today, I met with my friend Claudia Brooks D’Avanzo, whose communication agency, Creative Communication Consultants, handles PR for many great companies and organizations. I know Claudia through her work with Ted’s Montana Grill – a restaurant chain founded by Ted Turner and dedicated to improving environmental issues in the restaurant industry. She told me about a remarkable program which was embarked upon by Mannington Mills from 2005 – 2007. The program was called Stand on A Better World Awards and their intention was to highlight and reward the work of women who were making a difference with their lives for global impact. The winners were awarded between $10,000 and $25,000 grants for their work in several categories: Social, Economic & Environmental. Projects ranged from children’s health clinics in Latin America to microlending programs in Ghana. I have reviewed the site and was impressed with their award recipients. I would love to know what these women are up to now.
